The Cranston Reds Bantam team got off to a very slow start, not scoring a goal until the fourth game. It was obvious that practice was where it needed to get better. And from that point forward...it did, as we picked up the pace at practice, focused on our physical play, passing, and other individual skills.
Before long things started to form into shape as we went into the holidays playing some good hockey. Concentrating more on moving the puck to the areas we wanted to be in, and learning how to play in all three zones. The effort level, if there, showed during the games, and we worked hard as a group on our game. The boys get a lot of credit for this.
We came into the playoffs looking to continue playing sound hockey, ending up in the finals against the Bruins. After what seemed like seven full games with all 3 games going deep into Overtime, including a 7 round shootout. We were very fortunate to come home with the Championship in the third and final game... All the boys played their hearts out, and deserve every single ounce of credit for working as hard as they did...our hats go off to them...All of us coaches were very proud to see them evolve throughout the year...
A very special Thank You to Diana Moniz for her hard work as Team Manager. Thank you to Coach Jack and Steve for the support and leadership all year long.
Good Luck at Tryouts...Have a safe Spring/Summer |
